It has been at least two decades since I came across "The Book of Runes", by Ralph Blum. This was the first of several books on runes I have read, but Mr. Blum's book continued to be the "benchmark" for me in terms of the runes' names and meanings. I studied them and began to use them in my life as a means of divination. I'd pull a rune each morning and several times during the day, I'd ask myself how the rune I'd drawn that morning applied to the task I was now involved in. Along the way, I was led to write a series of Runic Prayers. They sat for the longest time gathering dust, and now I have rediscovered them again and am posting them here for anyone who might be interested. Please feel free to copy the runic prayers, and while a link back to this page would be appreciated, it's not required. While I vary the terms God/Goddess, Lord and Lady, Divine Creator, etc., please feel free to use whatever term feels most comfortable to you when reading the runic prayers. If it feels more comfortable to you to use no term, so be it. Most of these prayers can be adjusted for meditation as well, so feel free to use them as you see fit. |
