The purpose of this page is to provide a place to simply relax, read some inspirational lyrics and some cool sayings on some graphics I've come across. (I used to have wav files of songs, but they took so long to load.) I have found such inspiration in song lyrics— I think songwriters (most of them anyway) are modern day philosophers. [Two of the greatest songwriters in the world, in my humble opinion, are Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, collectively known as the Indigo Girls. If you've never listened to their music and their lyrics, I strongly suggest that you do.] I've also included some inspirational sayings, stories, prayers, etc. If you have an inspirational message you'd like me to post on this page, please email me.
Note: I saw Melissa Etheridge perform this song in concert at Akron, OH. It was the last song of her encore and it was so powerful. The entire audience was holding their hands above their head, swaying back and forth in time to the music, singing. Many had tears rolling down their cheeks. The song was written in memory of Matthew Shepard, who was killed just because he was gay. Beaten to death by two men, who left him tied to a fence post along the edge of a field in Wyoming. A passing bicyclist who found him first thought he was a scarecrow. Matthew died five days later. Perhaps it's not lighthearted, but the song is inspirational.
But they tortured you and burned you
They beat you and they tied you.
They left you cold and breathing
For love they crucified you.
I can't forget, hard as I try.
This silhouette against the sky.
Scarecrow crying, waiting to die
Wondering why.
Scarecrow trying, angels will hold,
carry your soul away.
This was our brother. This was our son.
This Shepard young and mild, this unassuming one.
We all gasp, "This can't happen here.
We're all much too civilized. Where can these monsters hide?"
But they're knocking on our front doors.
They're rocking in our cradles.
They're preaching in our churches.
They're eating at our tables.
I can't forget, hard as I try.
This silhouette against the sky.
Scarecrow crying, waiting to die
Wondering why.
Scarecrow trying, angels will hold,
carry your soul away.
I search my soul, my heart and in my mind
To try and find forgiveness.
This is someone's child, with pain unreconciled,
Filled up with father's hate, mother's neglect.
I can forgive but I will not forget.
Scarecrow crying, waiting to die
Wondering why.
Scarecrow trying, rising above
all in the name of love, love, love, love.
Rising above
all in the name of love, love, love, love.
Rising above
all in the name of love, love, love, love.
(Repeat and fade)

Look to this day, for it is Life,
The very Life of Life.
Within its brief span, lies all the Verities,
And realiteis of your existence.
The Bliss of Growth.
The Glory of Action.
The Splendor of Beauty.
For yesterday is but a Dream
And tomorrow is but a Vision
But today well lived makes every
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this day.

Night is but the pause before a new dawn.
The dark times of life—
but a pause before a new illumination.
In both cases, one waits with certainty
that the light will come.
